Is the US Capitol open to the public?

The U.S. Capitol is open to the public for tours Monday – Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. It is closed on Sundays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Inauguration Day.
Are you allowed to walk into the Capitol?
The United States Capitol is a monument, a working office building, and one of the most recognizable symbols of representative democracy in the world. Visitors are welcome to enter the building through the Capitol Visitor Center, located underground on the east side of the Capitol.

Advance reservations are recommended, but not required. Individuals, families and small groups (of 15 and fewer people) can click here to create an account and reserve a tour date and time. You must be logged in to your account to see accurate availability. Reservations are available 90 days in advance.

What is required to visit the White House?
All guests over 18 years old will be required to present a valid, government-issued photo ID upon check-in. Foreign nationals must present their passport. Please bring as little as possible (avoid backpacks, food, large handbags, bottled water, etc.).

Does the CIA give tours?
CIA Headquarters features sites like the famous Kryptos sculpture, memorials, art and museum galleries, and so much more. For security reasons, we do not offer tours to the public. However, our virtual Headquarters tour gives you the ability to wander through our campus and explore its unique sites.
Is a White House tour worth it?
Totally worth it! These are self-guided tours, which is kind of nice. Each guard knows a ton about each room and they are more than willing to offer up answers to anything you ask them.
